How This Consultation Works
The medical assessment for driving fitness requires review of specific parameters — including blood pressure and visual acuity — which must be documented before your consultation.
Before the consultation, you should have available:
- A recent blood pressure reading — this can be taken at a pharmacy, health centre, or with your own validated device
- A recent visual acuity test result — this can be obtained at an optician, ophthalmologist, or health centre
- A history of any relevant medical conditions — including cardiovascular, neurological, diabetes, or changes in vision or hearing
During the consultation, your doctor reviews these parameters, together with your full clinical history, and determines whether you meet the driving fitness criteria in line with IMT standards. When the criteria are met, the certificate is issued electronically, ready for submission to the IMT or the relevant authority.
Don't have these parameters measured recently? Our helpdesk can refer you to our partner centres, where you can obtain the necessary measurements before your consultation.
Categories Covered
This service is available for both Group 1 and Group 2 drivers:
Group 1 — categories AM, A1, A2, A, B1, B and BE (mopeds, motorcycles, and light passenger vehicles, with or without trailer). For these categories, a psychotechnical test is not mandatory by default — it is only required if the doctor, during the clinical assessment, considers it clinically indicated for your specific case.
Group 2 — categories C1, C, D1, D, C1E, CE, D1E and DE (heavy goods vehicles, heavy passenger vehicles, and articulated or trailer vehicles). For these categories, a psychotechnical test is, as a rule, mandatory, given the demands associated with professional and heavy-vehicle driving.
Regardless of category, if a psychotechnical test is required in your case, our helpdesk refers you directly to our partner psychotechnical test centres — no need to search on your own.
What Your Consultation Includes
Clinical History Review. Your doctor reviews your full medical history, including cardiovascular, neurological, and metabolic conditions, and any current medication that may be relevant to driving fitness.
Assessment of Documented Parameters. Review of your blood pressure and visual acuity, based on the results you present, in the context of the fitness criteria set by the IMT for the intended driving category.
Fitness Determination. Based on the complete assessment, your doctor determines whether you meet the medical fitness criteria for the driving category in question.
Certificate Issuance, When Appropriate. When the criteria are met, the medical certificate is issued electronically, ready for submission to the IMT or the relevant authority.
Referral, When Necessary. If the assessment identifies the need for a psychotechnical test, or if further tests are needed before the certificate can be issued, your doctor clearly informs you of the next steps.
Psychotechnical Test
The psychotechnical test assesses cognitive, perceptual, and reaction abilities relevant to safe driving, and is required under different circumstances depending on the category:
- Group 1 — not normally mandatory. It is only required when the doctor, during the clinical assessment, determines it is necessary for your specific case.
- Group 2 — as a rule, mandatory, given the nature of heavy-vehicle or professional driving.
The psychotechnical test is not included in the price of this consultation. When needed, our customer support refers you directly to our partner psychotechnical test centres, making the whole process easier.
Important Information Before Booking
- Issuance of the certificate depends on the clinical review of your documented health parameters and medical history — it cannot be guaranteed in advance
- You must have recent blood pressure and visual acuity measurements with you before the consultation — without this data, the assessment cannot be completed
- The psychotechnical test, when needed, is not included in this consultation and is coordinated separately through our partner centres
- Certain health conditions may require additional assessment or supporting documentation before the certificate can be issued, particularly for Group 2 categories
