Already managing a stable, established condition and need your treatment reviewed and prescription renewed? Our doctors, registered with the Romanian College of Physicians (CMR), conduct a full clinical review of your current treatment by secure video call — and issue an electronic prescription through the Romanian Electronic Prescription System (SIPE) where clinically appropriate.
No waiting room. No need to travel to a clinic for a condition that has not changed. Same-day appointments available in English.
What This Service Is — And What It Is Not
This is a clinical treatment review — not an automatic prescription refill. Our doctors conduct a genuine assessment of your current treatment, your condition, any side effects, and any changes to your health since your last review. On the basis of that assessment, they advise on whether your treatment remains appropriate and issue an electronic prescription where clinically indicated.
This service is appropriate when your condition is stable and your treatment is established. If your symptoms have changed significantly, worsened, or you have new concerns since your last review, a General Medical Consultation is more appropriate.
Who This Service Is For
This service is appropriate for adults who:
Are on a stable, established medication and cannot easily access prescription renewal through a registered family doctor
Do not have a registered Romanian family doctor and cannot easily access prescription renewal through the public system
Have been managing a long-term condition in another country and are now living in Romania — needing to continue treatment while they establish local healthcare
- Need to renew a prescription quickly without waiting for a clinic appointment
Prefer the convenience of a video consultation over an in-person visit for a stable, established condition
- Have had their condition reviewed recently and simply need continuation of a working treatment
What Your Consultation Includes
Full clinical review of your current treatmentYour doctor reviews the condition being treated, your current medication, dosage and duration, symptom control and treatment response, any side effects or safety concerns, and any relevant changes to your medical history since your last review.
Safety assessmentReview of potential interactions, contraindications, and any changes to your health that may affect the appropriateness of continuing your current treatment.
Electronic prescription — where clinically appropriateWhen your doctor determines that your treatment remains clinically appropriate, an electronic prescription is issued through the Romanian Electronic Prescription System (SIPE). You present this at any pharmacy of your choice in Romania. For foreign citizens without a Romanian CNP, your passport number is used — no Romanian health insurance required for a private prescription.
Note: Special-regime prescriptions — covering certain controlled and high-risk medications — cannot be transmitted electronically under Romanian law. Your doctor advises if this applies to your medication.
Referral or further investigation — where neededIf your review indicates that further assessment, blood tests, or specialist input is needed before treatment can be continued, your doctor advises clearly and coordinates the appropriate next steps on the same day.

Prescriptions in Romania — What You Need to Know
Romania uses an electronic prescription system (SIPE — Sistemul Informatic de Prescripție Electronică). When your doctor issues a prescription through SIPE, you receive it electronically and present it at any pharmacy in Romania.
For patients without Romanian public health insurance, prescriptions are dispensed at full private cost. For patients with Romanian public health insurance (asigurare de sănătate), reimbursed medications are dispensed with the applicable co-payment — though reimbursement applies only to prescriptions issued by doctors contracted with the public system. Private prescriptions issued through Global Health are dispensed at full private cost regardless of insurance status.
For foreign citizens without a Romanian CNP, your passport number is used on the prescription — this is fully accepted at Romanian pharmacies for private prescriptions.
Treatment Renewal Without a Registered Family Doctor
For anyone in Romania without a registered family doctor — whether a Romanian national between registrations, a recent mover to a new city, an expat, or an international resident — renewing a stable medication requires navigating a system that assumes you already have a doctor. Finding a clinic that accepts new patients, booking a full appointment for a condition that has not changed, and doing this in a language you may not speak well — these are real barriers for a significant number of people in Romania.
Our service removes this friction. A CMR-registered doctor reviews your treatment by video call and issues an electronic prescription where clinically appropriate — same day, from anywhere in Romania, in English or Romanian.
Important Information Before You Book
The decision to continue, adjust, or change any treatment is a clinical decision made solely by the doctor after full assessment — it cannot be confirmed or guaranteed in advance
Special-regime prescriptions covering certain controlled and high-risk medications cannot be transmitted electronically under Romanian law — your doctor advises if this applies to your situation
- Our doctors do not routinely prescribe controlled substances through video consultations
If your symptoms have changed significantly since your last review, a General Medical Consultation is more appropriate
Bring any relevant blood test results, specialist letters, or clinical documentation to your consultation — your doctor reviews these in full
Frequently Asked Questions
Is my prescription automatically renewed after the consultation? No. Treatment renewal requires a clinical review. Your doctor assesses your current condition, treatment response, and any changes since your last review before deciding whether continuation is clinically appropriate.
Can the doctor renew any medication? Most stable, established medications at GP level can be reviewed and renewed through this service. Special-regime prescriptions covering certain controlled and high-risk medications cannot be transmitted electronically under Romanian law. Our doctors do not routinely prescribe controlled substances through video consultations. Your doctor advises clearly if your medication falls into these categories.
How do I receive my prescription? When clinically indicated, your doctor issues an electronic prescription through SIPE. You receive it electronically and present it at any pharmacy of your choice in Romania.
Do I need Romanian health insurance for the prescription? No — for private prescriptions issued through this service. The prescription is dispensed at full private cost. Reimbursed dispensing under Romanian health insurance applies only to prescriptions issued by doctors contracted with the public system.
What if I am a foreign national without a Romanian CNP?Your passport number is used on the prescription in place of the CNP — this is the standard procedure for foreign citizens in Romania and is fully accepted at Romanian pharmacies for private prescriptions.
Do I need to bring anything to the consultation?Bring any relevant blood test results, specialist letters, or clinical documentation. If you have a letter or summary from your previous doctor or specialist — including from your home country — this is particularly helpful. Your doctor reviews it in full.
What if my condition has changed since my last review? If your symptoms have changed significantly, a General Medical Consultation is more appropriate. Your doctor will advise during the consultation if a more detailed assessment is needed.
Can I use this service if I do not have a Romanian family doctor?Yes. This service is specifically designed for patients — including expats and international residents — who do not have a registered Romanian family doctor but need to continue a stable, established treatment.
