Online clinical genetics. From anywhere. Anytime.
About Us
Global Health is a telemedicine platform already operating in Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Romania, Czechia, and Brazil. Our promise is simple: Medicine Anytime, Anywhere. We're building a clinic that removes barriers between doctors and the patients who need them — wherever they are.
Why Online Clinical Genetics Is Needed in Ireland Right Now
Ireland's clinical genetics workforce is severely under capacity: the country currently operates with just 8 consultant geneticists, against the 16 whole-time equivalents recommended by the UK Royal College of Physicians — half of the recommended level. The consequence is long waits for patients, with some reports citing waits of around 18 months and others up to two years for a clinical genetics appointment. The HSE's National Genetics and Genomics Office has confirmed funding for additional consultants, genetic counsellors, and genomic resource associates, with a full workforce plan expected as this shortage continues to be addressed.
Genetic counselling is particularly well suited to remote consultation: much of the appointment involves explaining test results, discussing familial risk, and supporting clinical decisions — work that doesn't typically require a physical examination. Private telegenetic counselling services already operate successfully in Ireland, a clear signal that patients are willing to engage with this model.
Online clinical genetics is one real way to help close this gap — and you can be part of it.
The Position: Clinical Geneticist for Online Consultations
We're looking for licensed clinical geneticists based in Ireland to join our online clinic. Through our platform, you'll provide remote genetics consultations and counselling to patients across the country, with full flexibility to shape your work schedule.
- 100% remote — consult from anywhere, via video, with access to genetic test results and family history
- Flexible schedule — choose the hours and days that suit you
- Main or supplementary role — ideal alongside an existing practice or hospital position
- Clinical documentation fully integrated — including genetic counselling reports, no extra paperwork
What You'll Be Part Of
- A genuinely international team of doctors — collaborate and connect with colleagues across Europe and Brazil
- A growing platform — you're joining Global Health at a growth stage in Ireland, not a position within an already-established system
- Real impact — help patients and families understand genetic results and hereditary risk without waiting up to two years for an appointment
- Ongoing support — technical, administrative, and clinical support so you can focus on medicine, not paperwork
Who We're Looking For
- Valid medical registration in Ireland (Irish Medical Council)
- Specialisation in Clinical Genetics
- Experience with telemedicine tools is a plus (training and onboarding support provided)
- Fluent English; Portuguese, Spanish, Romanian, or Czech are a bonus given our presence in those markets
Why Now
With Ireland operating at roughly half the recommended level of consultant geneticists and patients waiting up to two years for an appointment, the case for accessible online clinical genetics has rarely been clearer. Doctors who join at this stage help shape how online clinical genetics actually works within Global Health in Ireland — this isn't just about filling a schedule, it's about building something new.
If you're looking for a way to practise clinical genetics with more freedom, connection, and purpose — we'd love to meet you.
