Gastroenterologist — Join Global Health Ireland

Clinical Team · Ireland - 100% remote

Online gastroenterology. From anywhere. Anytime.

About Us

Global Health is a telemedicine platform already operating in Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Romania, Czechia, and Brazil. Our promise is simple: Medicine Anytime, Anywhere. We're building a clinic that removes barriers between doctors and the patients who need them — wherever they are.

Why Online Gastroenterology Is Needed in Ireland Right Now

Ireland's endoscopy and colonoscopy waiting lists have deteriorated sharply. As of end-May 2026, almost 41,000 people were waiting for a GI endoscopy appointment. Even urgent cases, which HSE guidance says should be seen within 28 days, are badly backlogged: in 2025, 6,660 patients waited over four weeks for an urgent colonoscopy — an 83.8% increase on 2024 — with some waits stretching to 60 days.

While teleconsultation can't replace an endoscopy or colonoscopy, gastroenterology also involves a great deal of ongoing consultation work that adapts well to a remote model: symptom triage, review of test results, management of chronic conditions like inflammatory bowel disease or reflux disease, and treatment adjustment. Notably, the HSE itself has already begun procuring outpatient gastroenterology teleconsultation services through specific tenders to help address these waiting lists — a clear signal of where the system sees remote care adding real value.

Online gastroenterology is one real way to help ease this pressure — and you can be part of it.

The Position: Gastroenterologist for Online Consultations

We're looking for licensed gastroenterologists based in Ireland to join our online clinic. Through our platform, you'll provide remote gastroenterology consultations to patients across the country, with full flexibility to shape your work schedule.

  • 100% remote — consult from anywhere, via video, with access to patient test results and history
  • Flexible schedule — choose the hours and days that suit you
  • Main or supplementary role — ideal alongside an existing practice or hospital position
  • Clear referral protocols — defined pathways for urgent cases (e.g. significant GI bleeding, severe abdominal pain) requiring immediate in-person care
  • E-prescribing fully integrated — including chronic medication renewal, no extra paperwork

What You'll Be Part Of

  • A genuinely international team of doctors — collaborate and connect with colleagues across Europe and Brazil
  • A growing platform — you're joining Global Health at a growth stage in Ireland, not a position within an already-established system
  • Real impact — help patients get faster triage, follow-up, and chronic disease management while endoscopy waiting lists remain under severe pressure
  • Ongoing support — technical, administrative, and clinical support so you can focus on medicine, not paperwork

Who We're Looking For

  • Valid medical registration in Ireland (Irish Medical Council)
  • Specialisation in Gastroenterology
  • Experience with telemedicine tools is a plus (training and onboarding support provided)
  • Fluent English; Portuguese, Spanish, Romanian, or Czech are a bonus given our presence in those markets

Why Now

With almost 41,000 people waiting for a GI endoscopy appointment and urgent colonoscopy waits up 83.8% year-on-year, the pressure on Ireland's gastroenterology services is severe. Doctors who join at this stage help shape how online gastroenterology actually works within Global Health in Ireland — this isn't just about filling a schedule, it's about building something new.

If you're looking for a way to practise gastroenterology with more freedom, connection, and purpose — we'd love to meet you.
