AMH (Ovarian Reserve) Test
AMH is produced by follicles in the ovaries, and the level gives an indication of ovarian reserve — roughly, how many eggs remain. It is one input into fertility planning, alongside age and other factors. AMH does not predict whether or when you will conceive naturally. Your results are delivered to you directly by Randox. Before you test
What to know before testing
Time it to your cycle
Collect your sample two to five days after your period starts, ideally on day three.
Hormonal contraception affects this
The pill changes these results. If you have recently stopped it, wait until your cycle has settled back into its normal rhythm before testing.
Drink water beforehand
On the morning of collection, drink plenty of water. Being well hydrated improves circulation and makes it easier to collect a clean sample.
Pause biotin supplements
Biotin (vitamin B7), on its own or inside a multivitamin, interferes with several laboratory results. Stop 48 hours before testing — unless it was prescribed, in which case speak to your doctor first.

Frequently asked questions
Does it matter when in my cycle I test?
AMH is relatively stable across the cycle, so it can be collected on any day. Note the date of collection anyway — it helps when a doctor interprets the result.
Does hormonal contraception affect AMH?
It can lower the reading. If you are on the pill or another hormonal contraceptive, mention it when discussing your result.
Does AMH tell me whether I can conceive?
No. AMH indicates ovarian reserve, not fertility as a whole, and it cannot predict natural conception. It is most useful alongside a clinical assessment.
Is a doctor's review included?
No. The price covers the kit and its laboratory analysis, and your results come to you directly from Randox. A follow-up consultation with an IMC-registered Global Health doctor is booked separately, from €45.
