What to know before testing
Nothing by mouth for 30 minutes
Do not eat, drink, smoke or chew gum in the 30 minutes before collecting your saliva sample.
Nothing to drink, no symptoms
This reads the genetic markers rather than your reaction to lactose, so there is no lactose drink and no waiting through symptoms.

How is this different from a lactose tolerance test?
A tolerance test measures your reaction after drinking lactose. This one reads the genetic markers behind that reaction instead, so there is nothing to drink and no symptoms to sit through.
Does a result explain all my symptoms?
Not necessarily. Bloating and cramps have several causes, including a milk protein allergy and IBS. A genetic result is one piece of the picture — persistent symptoms should be assessed by a doctor.
How is the sample collected?
With a saliva swab. There is no blood sample and no needle — full instructions are included in the kit.
