What Your Consultation Includes
Full Paediatric AssessmentYour doctor will conduct a thorough clinical assessment of your child's symptoms, medical history, developmental background, and current health status — with you present throughout as parent or caregiver.
Clear Explanation of FindingsWe know that receiving medical information about your child can be stressful. Your doctor will explain their findings in plain language, give you a clear clinical picture of what is happening, and answer your questions thoroughly.
Clinical Management PlanBased on the assessment, your doctor will advise on appropriate management — including home care guidance, safety-netting advice, referral for investigations, or onward referral to specialist paediatric services where clinically indicated. Any clinical recommendations are made at the doctor's professional discretion.
Safety-Netting AdviceEvery paediatric consultation includes clear safety-netting — specific guidance on what to watch for, when to seek further care, and what would indicate that your child needs emergency assessment. This is standard clinical practice and something we take seriously.
Referral & CoordinationWhere specialist paediatric input — including paediatrics, dermatology, ENT, or other specialties — is needed, your doctor will coordinate referral and ensure the appropriate documentation is issued.
A Note on Consent and Confidentiality
Paediatric consultations involve a minor. All consultations for patients under 16 require a parent or legal guardian to be present during the video call and to provide consent for the consultation and any clinical recommendations made.
For adolescent patients aged 16 and over, the doctor will assess capacity to consent on a case-by-case basis in accordance with Irish medical and legal standards.
All patient information — for both the child and the parent or caregiver — is protected under strict GDPR and Irish data protection standards.
When to Seek Emergency Care
This is the most important section on this page.
Call 112 or 999 or attend your nearest emergency department immediately if your child has:
- Difficulty breathing or is breathing very fast
- A high fever in an infant under 3 months — any fever in this age group is a medical emergency
- A rash that does not fade when pressed with a glass — this may indicate meningitis
- Severe allergic reaction — swelling of the face, lips, or throat, or difficulty swallowing
- Seizures or convulsions
- Loss of consciousness or is unresponsive
- Severe abdominal pain
- Signs of dehydration — no wet nappies for 8+ hours, sunken fontanelle, dry mouth, no tears when crying
- Any symptom that is rapidly worsening and causing you serious concern
If you are unsure whether your child's symptoms are an emergency, always err on the side of caution and seek emergency care.
Our service is for non-emergency paediatric concerns. Your child's safety is always the priority.
Why Parents Choose Us
Same-day accessWhen your child is unwell, waiting days for an appointment is not acceptable. Same-day slots are available so your child can be assessed when they actually need it.
Irish-registered doctorsAll paediatric consultations are conducted by doctors registered to practise in Ireland, operating to full GP-level clinical standards for child health.
You stay in controlYou are present throughout the entire consultation. You ask the questions, you hear the answers, and you make the decisions for your child — with clinical guidance from your doctor.
Clear, jargon-free explanationsWe know that medical information about your child can be anxiety-inducing. Our doctors explain findings clearly, answer your questions thoroughly, and ensure you leave the consultation understanding exactly what is happening and what to do next.
Expat and international family focusMany of our paediatric patients are children of expat or international families in Ireland who do not have a registered GP managing their child's care. We provide accessible, high-quality primary care for children regardless of GP registration status, PPS number, or medical card.
Multi-lingualConsultations available in English, Portuguese, Spanish, Czech, and Romanian — removing the language barrier that many international families face when seeking medical care for their children in Ireland.
