Yes. Every doctor consulting through Global Health Czechia holds registration with the Czech Medical Chamber (Česká lékařská komora), the professional body that maintains the register of general practitioners and specialists in the Czech Republic. Each doctor's registration, specialty and consultation languages are listed on their profile. Our registered office is in Prague 1, at Rybná 24 — this is a company address, not a walk-in surgery. Every assessment happens by secure video call, so where you are within Czechia makes no difference to booking.

Which language can I consult in?

Consultations are available in Czech and English. Each doctor's profile states which language or languages they consult in, so you can choose a doctor by language before booking. If you need a consultation in another language, check with the specific doctor before booking, since language availability varies by specialty and by day. If you're unsure which doctor to pick, the language filter in the booking calendar makes it easy to narrow down options quickly.

Does Global Health replace my registered GP?

No. Global Health complements your existing care rather than replacing your registration with a praktický lékař (registered GP). An online consultation can be the faster route to an assessment — for an acute problem outside your clinic's hours, or for a specialist opinion. For some things, such as a sickness certificate, the relationship with your own registered GP and ČSSZ's own rules still govern what applies. We recommend keeping a registered GP with your zdravotní pojišťovna for ongoing and preventive care.

How do I book a consultation?

Booking takes a few minutes online: choose the type of consultation (GP or specialist), pick an available slot from that doctor's calendar, and confirm. The price is shown before you complete the booking, so you know exactly what you're paying. Once confirmed, you'll receive a video-call link and any preparation instructions by email. You can book from a computer or phone, and no separate app is required. If you're not sure which doctor to choose, each profile shows their specialty, rating and next available slot, so the decision usually takes only a moment.

How quickly can I see a doctor?

Same-day appointments are usually available in Czechia, for both GP and specialist consultations, depending on current demand and the language you need. Exact availability is shown live in each doctor's calendar — only genuinely open slots appear. Online consultation is not designed for emergencies or life-threatening symptoms. If you need urgent care, call 155 (Czech medical rescue) or 112, or attend your nearest emergency department rather than waiting for an online slot. Availability tends to be even wider outside peak hours, particularly for GPs consulting in both Czech and English. Booking ahead is worth doing if you have a preferred doctor or time in mind.

Can I book a consultation for my child or another family member?

Yes, a consultation can be booked on behalf of a child or another family member, provided the booking is made by a parent, legal guardian, or with the patient's consent. When booking, you enter the details of the person being seen, not just the person paying. For children, the doctor assesses during the consultation whether an online format is appropriate for the symptoms, and will recommend an in-person visit if it is not. Having the child's health-insurance card and any GP records to hand helps.

What happens during an online consultation?

The consultation takes place by secure video call, in your browser, at the time you booked. The doctor discusses your symptoms, relevant history and any medication you take, then decides on next steps — which might include treatment advice, an eRecept, a referral for further tests, or, where clinically appropriate, a certificate. Consultations typically run up to twenty minutes. Afterwards, a summary and any documents issued appear in your patient account. It helps to have a short summary of your symptoms and current medications ready beforehand, so the time is used efficiently. If the connection drops, the doctor will try to reconnect or offer a replacement slot.

What can be treated online, and when do I need to be seen in person?

Accepted Answer

Online consultations work well for common acute conditions (colds, flu, urinary infections), routine and repeat prescriptions, skin and other concerns that can be assessed from a description or photo, and specialist opinions. Where a condition needs a physical examination, a lab sample or imaging, the doctor will tell you during the consultation and point you to the right place, including emergency care if needed. The aim is safe remote assessment, not a substitute for an in-person exam where one is genuinely required.

Can I see a specialist, or only a GP?

Global Health Czechia offers consultations with both GPs and a range of specialists — the specialties on offer are shown directly in the booking system and vary with doctor availability. You can book a specialist directly, without waiting for a paper referral from a GP first. The specialist may still recommend further steps during the consultation, including an in-person examination or referral to another clinician, if your condition calls for it. The exact list of available specialties can shift depending on which doctors are consulting on a given day, so it's worth checking the booking system directly for current availability.

Can a Global Health doctor issue me a neschopenka?

Accepted Answer

A neschopenka (certified sickness absence) is always a decision made by the treating doctor following an assessment — which can include a video consultation — and it is submitted electronically straight into the ČSSZ system as an eNeschopenka; a private platform does not issue or guarantee one by itself. Where a patient's condition supports it, the doctor completes it during or after the consultation, the same way as after an in-person visit. Entitlement to the sickness benefit itself is then decided by ČSSZ under its own rules, not by the doctor or by Global Health. Have your rodné číslo and employer details ready.

How does eNeschopenka work, and why isn't it just issued by a private clinic on request?

Sickness certification in Czechia is now fully electronic (eNeschopenka), and it is submitted directly by the treating doctor through ČSSZ's ePortál or connected medical software — the document goes straight to ČSSZ, the employer and the insured person, with no paper version. Issuing one depends on a clinical assessment by the doctor, not on a request made to a particular provider. You can also see the current status and history of your own eNeschopenka after logging into ePortál ČSSZ, including the treating doctor and the length of the absence.

Will I get an eRecept from a consultation?

Where your condition warrants it and the assessing doctor judges it clinically appropriate, they can issue an eRecept during an online consultation, which is stored electronically in the Central Repository of Electronic Prescriptions. You then collect the medication at any pharmacy in the Czech Republic using your rodné číslo or an SMS code — no paper copy needed. Not every consultation ends in a prescription; it depends on clinical judgment. Certain medications, such as opioids or other controlled substances, carry additional legal restrictions on remote prescribing.

Can I get a repeat prescription for medication I already take long-term?

For ongoing medication, the doctor reviews your current treatment during the consultation and, where clinically appropriate, issues an eRecept to continue it. For medicines that need regular monitoring, such as periodic blood tests, the doctor may ask you to have those done, or to be seen in person, before renewing the prescription. Stricter rules apply to remote prescribing of opioids, other controlled substances and some psychiatric medications, and the doctor will explain these during your consultation if relevant. If a significant amount of time has passed since your last check-up, the doctor may suggest a short in-person visit to your GP before renewing the prescription.

How is my health information protected?

All medical records and the video connection used during your consultation are encrypted and handled under GDPR and Czech data-protection law covering personal and sensitive health data. Access to your records is limited to the treating doctor and a small number of authorised staff who keep the platform running. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for marketing. Question 15

Who can see the record from my consultation?

The consultation record and notes are primarily visible to the doctor who saw you, and to you in your own patient account. With your consent, a summary can be shared with your registered GP or another treating clinician for continuity of care. Without your explicit consent, we do not share your records with an employer, your health insurer, or any other third party — except where the law requires it, for example reporting certain notifiable infectious diseases. The same limits apply to any eRecept or eNeschopenka issued during the consultation. Consent to share can be withdrawn at any time through your patient account.

Can I request a copy of my medical record?

Yes. As a patient you have the right to request a copy of the medical record kept in connection with your Global Health consultations, either through your patient account or by emailing our support team. Requests are usually handled within a few business days. This includes any eRecept or eNeschopenka issued during a consultation. A copy is useful to hand to your registered GP or another specialist if you continue care outside our platform. Records are retained for the period required by Czech healthcare-record legislation.

How much does a consultation cost, and how do I pay?

The price for a specific consultation is always shown before you complete the booking, since it varies by consultation type (GP or specialist) and by doctor, and is managed directly in the booking system so it always reflects current pricing. Payment is taken online by card at the time of booking, through a secure payment gateway. There are no hidden extra charges — the price shown at booking is the price you pay, and an invoice is emailed automatically. We accept standard payment cards and processing is instant, so your booking is confirmed as soon as checkout completes. Past invoices remain available in your patient account at any time.

Will my health insurer cover the consultation?

Global Health is a private, paid service, and payment goes directly to us rather than through the public health-insurance system. Some Czech health insurers, such as ZPMVČR, offer their own phone or online doctor line as a covered member benefit — but that is a separate service run by the insurer, not reimbursement for consultations with private providers like Global Health. Check directly with your zdravotní pojišťovna if you want to know whether it offers a contribution toward private care.
