Medical emergency? Call 155 or 112 immediately. Do not book an online consultation for emergencies.
Travelling to a malaria zone, a destination with yellow fever requirements, or a region with significant infectious disease risk? A travel vaccination centre will administer your vaccines. But there are two things it cannot do: prescribe malaria prophylaxis — which requires a doctor — and advise you on how to manage your specific health conditions, medications, and itinerary in the context of your trip.
Our doctors, registered with the Czech Medical Chamber (ČLK), offer pre-travel medical consultations by secure video call in English — providing the clinical assessment, malaria prophylaxis prescription, and personalised medical planning that a vaccination centre cannot. Same day, from anywhere in Czech Republic.
What a Pre-Travel Medical Consultation Provides That a Vaccination Centre Cannot
Travel vaccination centres in Czech Republic administer vaccines — but they do not conduct structured medical assessments, they cannot prescribe malaria prophylaxis, and they do not advise on managing chronic conditions during travel.
Your pre-travel consultation with a ČLK-registered doctor covers:
- Malaria prophylaxis — assessed and prescribed directly, with eRecept issued. You cannot get an antimalarial prescription from a vaccination centre.
- Personalised risk assessment — based on your specific destination, itinerary, accommodation type, planned activities, and health profile — not a generic checklist
- Vaccination planning — advice on which vaccines are needed, which you may already be immune to, and the appropriate schedule given your departure date — so you arrive at the vaccination centre knowing exactly what to ask for
- Chronic condition management during travel — if you have diabetes, hypertension, asthma, or take regular medication, your doctor advises on management during the trip, time zone adjustment, altitude considerations, and when to seek care abroad
- Travel health documentation — medical letters for medication, medical devices, or travel insurance requirements
- Post-travel assessment — if you return with symptoms from a higher-risk destination, your doctor assesses in the context of your travel history
After your consultation, your doctor advises on where to go for vaccine administration — including the nearest KHS-authorised centre for yellow fever certification. The official ÚZIS vaccination point finder at ockoreport.uzis.cz lets you search by vaccine type and location across Czech Republic.
What Your Consultation Includes
- Destination and itinerary assessment — Your doctor reviews your destination, duration, itinerary, type of accommodation, and planned activities — including whether you will be in urban or rural areas, staying in hotels or camping, undertaking adventure activities, or visiting healthcare facilities.
- Malaria risk assessment and prophylaxis — For destinations with malaria risk, your doctor assesses the most appropriate prophylaxis regimen based on your destination, itinerary, duration, and individual health profile — including any contraindications. eRecept is issued for the appropriate antimalarial where clinically indicated.
- Vaccination planning — Based on your destination and health profile, your doctor advises on which vaccinations are recommended or required, which you may already have adequate immunity for, and the appropriate vaccination schedule given your departure date. Your doctor also advises on where to go for vaccine administration in Czech Republic.
- Management of chronic conditions during travel — Your doctor advises on managing conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, or mental health conditions during travel — including medication quantities, time zones, altitude considerations, and when to seek medical care abroad.
- Travel health documentation — Where clinically appropriate, your doctor can issue a travel health summary letter — useful for patients carrying medication, medical devices, or requiring health documentation for travel insurance or border control purposes.
- Post-travel assessment — Returned from a higher-risk destination with symptoms? Your doctor can assess fever, gastrointestinal symptoms, skin conditions, or other concerns in the context of your travel history — with referral for specialist tropical medicine assessment where indicated.
A Note on Yellow Fever
Yellow fever vaccination and the International Certificate of Vaccination — required for entry to certain countries — must be administered and issued in person at a vaccination centre authorised by the regional public health authority (Krajská hygienická stanice — KHS). This cannot be arranged through a telemedicine consultation.
Your doctor advises on which destinations require yellow fever certification and refers you to the appropriate KHS-authorised centre. The official ÚZIS vaccination point finder at ockoreport.uzis.cz lists all KHS-authorised yellow fever vaccination centres in Czech Republic — search by vaccine type to find the nearest authorised centre to you.
Where to Get Vaccinated in Czech Republic
After your consultation, your doctor advises on where to go for vaccine administration based on your location and the vaccines needed. The main options are:
- Specialised travel vaccination centres — the most comprehensive option, offering the full range of travel vaccines including yellow fever. Major networks include AVENIER (multiple locations across Czech Republic), Zdravotní ústav Ústí nad Labem (12 locations in Prague and 6 other regions), Centrum cestovní medicíny Praha (Havelská 14, Praha 1), and the travel vaccination centre at ÚVN Military Hospital Prague.
- Your registered GP — some GP practices offer travel vaccines, though not all carry the full range. Yellow fever certification requires a KHS-authorised centre specifically.
- ÚZIS vaccination point finder — the official Czech government tool at ockoreport.uzis.cz allows you to search for vaccination points near you by vaccine type, including all travel medicine vaccines and yellow fever.

- Anyone travelling to a destination with malaria risk — this is the most common and most important reason to consult a doctor before travel
- Anyone travelling to a destination with yellow fever requirements who needs to know exactly which KHS-authorised centre to visit
- Patients with chronic conditions — diabetes, hypertension, asthma, mental health conditions — who need medical advice on managing their health abroad
- Patients carrying medication or medical devices who need documentation for customs or travel insurance
- Business travellers with frequent international travel who want an annual travel health review
- Students on study abroad programmes or gap years
- Families travelling with children to higher-risk destinations
After travel:
- Travellers returning with fever, gastrointestinal symptoms, skin conditions, or other concerns after travel to a higher-risk destination
- Anyone who became unwell during travel and wants clinical assessment on return
How Far in Advance Should I Book
Travel health planning should ideally begin four to six weeks before departure for most destinations — to allow sufficient time for vaccine administration and completion of vaccination schedules requiring multiple doses. Some vaccines — including rabies and Japanese encephalitis — require multiple doses over several weeks.
For last-minute travellers, book as soon as possible and your doctor advises on what is achievable in the time available and what to prioritise.
Travel health consultations are conducted at GP level by doctors registered with the Czech Medical Chamber (ČLK), in accordance with Czech telemedicine regulations under Act No. 372/2011 Coll. and Decree No. 30/2025 Coll. This service provides clinical travel health assessment, malaria prophylaxis prescription, and personalised medical planning — it does not include physical vaccine administration. Yellow fever vaccination and the International Certificate of Vaccination must be administered and issued in person at a KHS-authorised vaccination centre and cannot be obtained through this service. Travel health recommendations are destination-specific and subject to change — patients should confirm current entry requirements with the embassy or consulate of their destination country before travelling. Clinical recommendations are made solely at the doctor's professional discretion following full assessment. This service is not suitable for medical emergencies — call 155 or 112 immediately.
