Dr. Ahmed Maklad is a Doctor of Medicine (MUDr.) graduated in General Medicine from Masaryk University, Faculty of Medicine in Brno — one of Europe's most internationally recognised medical schools — with clinical experience spanning surgery, internal medicine, geriatrics, paediatrics, and primary care across the Czech Republic and Egypt.
Before joining Global Health Ireland, Dr. Maklad worked as a General Practitioner at Ghouraba GP Clinic in Cairo, where he provided ongoing care for patients with chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, and respiratory disease. Managing complex, long-term patients in a high-demand environment gave him something that hospital training alone rarely does — the ability to listen carefully, explain clearly, and build a clinical picture from a conversation rather than a full investigation panel.
He is currently undertaking his Surgical Residency at University Hospital Brno, one of the Czech Republic's leading tertiary hospitals, where he works across emergency and elective surgical procedures, trauma management, perioperative care, and acute surgical assessment. That surgical background sharpens his diagnostic thinking in primary care — he knows when something can be safely managed online, and when it needs to be escalated without delay.
