About this service

If you have a rapidly spreading rash accompanied by fever, difficulty breathing, or facial swelling — seek emergency care immediately. Call 155 or 112 or go to your nearest emergency department.

Skin conditions are among the most visible and most undertreated medical concerns. Whether it is a rash that appeared this morning, an eczema flare that has been building for weeks, acne that is affecting your confidence, or a lesion you have been meaning to have checked — most skin concerns can be assessed clinically by video call by an experienced doctor.

For expats and international residents in Czech Republic, accessing a dermatologist or even a GP who can assess a skin condition in English is genuinely difficult. Dermatology waiting times in Czech Republic — even privately — are long. Our doctors, registered with the Czech Medical Chamber (ČLK), offer comprehensive skin assessments by secure video call in English, Arabic, and Bengali — identifying your condition, advising on evidence-based management, and coordinating dermatology referral where specialist input is needed.

What Your Consultation Includes

Visual clinical assessment — Skin conditions are uniquely suited to video consultation — your doctor can observe the lesion, rash, or skin change directly during the call and conduct a structured clinical assessment. Good lighting and a clear camera view significantly improve the quality of assessment — your doctor will guide you on positioning during the call.

Comprehensive history — Your doctor reviews the onset, progression, distribution, associated symptoms, triggers, previous treatments, relevant medical history, medications, and family history of skin conditions.

Diagnosis and management plan — Based on the assessment, your doctor advises on the most likely diagnosis, the appropriate management approach, and what to expect from treatment — including how to monitor your condition and when to seek further review.

Investigation requests where indicated — Where blood tests — including allergy panels or inflammatory markers — are clinically indicated, your doctor issues the request on the same day.

eRecept — where clinically appropriate — When clinically indicated, your doctor issues eRecept electronically. You receive the code and present it at any pharmacy of your choice in Czech Republic.

Dermatology referral where needed — Where specialist dermatology assessment is required — including suspicious lesions, severe or treatment-resistant conditions, or conditions requiring biopsy or patch testing — your doctor issues a formal referral letter and advises on urgency.

Skin Lesions — When to Act Urgently

Any change in a mole or skin lesion warrants clinical assessment. The ABCDE criteria are the standard clinical guide:

  • A — Asymmetry — one half does not match the other
  • B — Border — irregular, ragged, or blurred edges
  • C — Colour — variation in colour within the lesion
  • D — Diameter — larger than 6mm
  • E — Evolution — any change in size, shape, colour, or any new symptom

If your lesion meets any of these criteria, book an assessment promptly. Your doctor will assess visually and advise on whether urgent in-person dermatology assessment is needed. Skin cancer diagnosis requires in-person dermoscopy and biopsy where indicated. Video consultation allows clinical assessment and urgent referral — it does not replace in-person specialist assessment for suspicious lesions.

Preparing for Your Skin Consultation

  • Good lighting — natural daylight or a lamp directed at the affected area gives your doctor the clearest view
  • Close-up photos — take clear photos of the affected area before your consultation — these can be shared during the call and help your doctor assess changes over time
  • Multiple angles — show the lesion or rash from multiple angles during the call
  • Note the history — when it started, how it has changed, what makes it better or worse, and what you have already tried

Short Disclaimer

Skin consultations are conducted at GP level by doctors registered with the Czech Medical Chamber (ČLK), in accordance with Czech telemedicine regulations under Act No. 372/2011 Coll. and Decree No. 30/2025 Coll. Video-based skin assessment has inherent limitations — conditions requiring dermoscopy, biopsy, patch testing, or in-person specialist examination cannot be fully assessed remotely. Isotretinoin cannot be initiated through this service — dermatologist assessment is required in Czech Republic as specified in the product authorisation. Clinical recommendations and referrals are issued solely at the doctor's professional discretion following full assessment. If you are experiencing a skin-related emergency — rapidly spreading rash, anaphylaxis, or angioedema — call 155 or 112 immediately.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a skin condition really be assessed over video call?

Yes — for the vast majority of presentations. Dermatology is one of the medical specialties best suited to visual assessment. Where a condition cannot be adequately assessed remotely — suspicious lesions requiring dermoscopy, conditions requiring biopsy, or patch testing — the doctor will advise clearly and coordinate an in-person referral.

Can I get acne treatment through this service?

Yes — for mild to moderate acne. Isotretinoin must be prescribed by a dermatologist in the Czech Republic and cannot be initiated through this service. If your acne warrants consideration of isotretinoin, the doctor will advise a referral to a dermatologist.

I have a mole that has changed — how urgent is this?

A changed mole warrants prompt clinical assessment. Book an appointment and show the doctor the lesion during the video call. The doctor will assess it against standard clinical criteria and advise whether urgent in-person dermatological assessment is needed.

Can I use this service for my child's eczema?

Yes. Eczema in infants and children is one of the most common paediatric skin presentations and is a core part of this service.

Can I get a referral to a dermatologist through this service?

Yes. Where specialist dermatological input is clinically indicated, the doctor will issue a formal referral letter the same day — addressed to a dermatologist or clinic of your choice.

What if my rash is spreading quickly or I feel unwell?

A rapidly spreading rash accompanied by fever, difficulty breathing, facial swelling, or feeling seriously unwell is a medical emergency. Call 155 or 112, or go to the nearest emergency department immediately.
