Global Health Launches Online Specialist ADHD Care for Adults in Ireland During ADHD Awareness Month

Adults can now book directly with a consultant psychiatrist for ADHD assessment, treatment planning and ongoing care, without a GP referral

Global Health, the telemedicine provider operating under the tagline "Medicine Anytime, Anywhere," today announced the launch of specialist ADHD care for adults in Ireland, to coincide with ADHD Awareness Month.

The service is led by Dr Angela Rousseva, a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in ADHD, Autism and Adult Psychiatry, registered with the Medical Council of Ireland. Consultations take place by secure video and are available in English, French and Bulgarian.

The service is designed for three groups of adults:

  • adults who suspect they may have ADHD and want a specialist assessment
  • adults with an existing diagnosis, including those diagnosed in childhood or abroad, who need ongoing specialist management in Ireland
  • adults on a public waiting list who wish to access specialist care sooner, without giving up their place on the list

During the consultation, the psychiatrist takes a detailed history of current and childhood symptoms and looks at how attention, impulsivity and restlessness affect work, study and relationships. They also screen for conditions that can mimic or coexist with ADHD, such as anxiety, depression and sleep disorders. Patients then agree a care plan, which may include psychological strategies, practical support and, where clinically appropriate, medication.

Global Health follows established clinical standards for ADHD diagnosis. A formal diagnosis relies on a structured interview, developmental history and information from more than one setting, never on a questionnaire alone, and may require more than one consultation. Medication is only started after a confirmed diagnosis and baseline health checks. With the patient's consent, a shared care plan is sent to their GP.

ADHD in adults is one of the most common reasons patients get in touch with us, and one of the hardest areas in which to access specialist care in Ireland. We hear from adults who have struggled for years without answers, and from people diagnosed elsewhere who can't find follow-up here. ADHD Awareness Month is the right moment to make that care easier to reach.
