Each consultation is carried out via encrypted video call and follows the same clinical standards as an in-person consultation. Your doctor:
- Will take a detailed history, including current medication and functional status
- Will carry out a structured remote clinical assessment, with the possible involvement of a caregiver
- Will clearly explain the findings and propose an appropriate care plan, when clinically indicated
- Will advise you on a possible treatment adjustment, additional tests, or referral to a specialist
- Will issue the relevant clinical documentation, at the doctor’s professional discretion

Preparing for a consultation with a family member
Before the video call, agree with the older person which concerns they want to discuss and whether they would like someone to join them. Make a short list in their own words. Put the most important concern first, rather than trying to cover every question at once. If several relatives help with care, choose one person to bring the notes so that the information is easy to follow.
Have the current medication list, available medical reports and any questions about day-to-day activities nearby. Record what has changed and approximately when it changed. Useful examples include tasks the person finds difficult, the help they already receive at home and questions about organising that help. Describe what you have observed without trying to decide the diagnosis yourself. Let the older person explain their experience whenever possible.
Choose a quiet, private place and test the camera, microphone and internet connection before the appointment. Position the screen so the person can see and hear the doctor comfortably. If a relative is helping with the device, explain who is present at the start of the call. Discuss beforehand which information the person is comfortable sharing with that relative; practical help with the call does not mean the relative should answer every question for them.
During the appointment, use your notes to ask what the next steps are and which questions remain unanswered. Before ending the call, check that you understand the plan discussed, including any need for an in-person assessment. Keep a record of questions for a future appointment and share the information only with the people the patient wants involved in their care.
