How to prepare
The psychotechnical test (teste psicotécnico) is a psychological assessment of your mental and emotional fitness to drive safely. It includes specific tests and an interview with a psychologist, covering attention, concentration, logical reasoning, spatial perception, psychomotor coordination and stress tolerance.
When it is required
- Heavy-vehicle licences (categories C, D and related), when obtaining or renewing
- Drivers of priority vehicles, such as ambulances and fire engines
- TVDE (ride-hailing) and taxi drivers
- Transport of dangerous goods (ADR)
- When a doctor recommends it during the physical and mental fitness assessment
What to bring
- Photo ID (Citizen Card or passport)
- Your driving licence, if you have one
- Glasses or contact lenses, if you wear them
At the end, the centre issues the Psychological Assessment Certificate (Certificado de Avaliação Psicológica), valid for six months.
