Why online geriatrics is needed in Portugal, now
In 2026, Portugal is the second-oldest country in the European Union, with almost 2.7 million people aged 65 or over — a population growing five times faster than the working-age population. Despite this demographic reality, there are only 113 doctors in the whole country with a competence in geriatrics recognised by the Ordem dos Médicos — around 0.16% of all specialists. The coverage rate of care homes and home support remains stagnant at 11.4%, leaving many families without a structured response for the medical follow-up of their elderly relatives.
Teleconsultation is already growing significantly in the National Health Service (SNS) for this age group — almost 940 thousand teleconsultations were carried out in 2025 — and it is particularly useful for elderly patients with reduced mobility, for whom travelling to an in-person appointment can in itself be a significant barrier to accessing care.
Online geriatrics is a real way to help address this imbalance — and you can be part of it.
The position: Geriatrician for online consultations
We are looking for doctors with a competence in Geriatrics practising in Portugal to join our online clinic. Through our platform, you will carry out remote geriatrics consultations with patients and their families/carers across the country, with full flexibility to manage your working model.
- 100% remote — consultations from anywhere, by video, with carers involved when needed
- Flexible hours — choose the hours and days that suit you best
- Main or complementary activity — ideal as a complement to an existing practice or hospital work
- Fully integrated electronic prescriptions — including review and adjustment of polypharmacy, with no additional paperwork

Who we are looking for
- A valid professional licence in Portugal (registration with the Ordem dos Médicos)
- A competence in Geriatrics recognised by the Ordem dos Médicos (typically obtained via Internal Medicine or General and Family Medicine)
- Experience with online consultation tools is an advantage (training and onboarding support provided)
- Fluent Portuguese; English is an advantage given our international team, and Spanish, Romanian or Czech are a bonus given our presence in those markets
