What This Service Covers
This service is a full GP-level medical assessment of your fitness to work. Following your consultation, your doctor will determine whether certified sick leave is medically necessary based on your symptoms, clinical history, and occupational demands.
Medical certificates issued through our platform are accepted by employers and educational institutions nationwide.
Please note: This service does not cover Illness Benefit Certificates for submission to the Department of Social Protection. Patients requiring documentation for social welfare purposes must attend an in-person GP consultation.
Conditions Commonly Assessed
Our doctors regularly assess patients presenting with:
- Flu, viral infections, and acute respiratory illness
- Fever and systemic illness
- Chest infections and severe cough
- Gastroenteritis — vomiting, diarrhoea, and abdominal symptoms
- Migraine and severe headaches
- Back pain and musculoskeletal injuries affecting ability to work
- Acute stress, anxiety, and burnout symptoms
- COVID-19 and post-COVID symptoms
- Exacerbations of chronic conditions — asthma, diabetes, hypertension
- Minor injuries affecting functional capacity
Each case is assessed individually. The decision to issue a medical certificate is a clinical judgement made solely by the consulting doctor.
What Your Consultation Includes
Full Medical AssessmentYour doctor will review your symptoms, medical history, occupational demands, and current functional capacity to form a complete clinical picture.
Fitness to Work DeterminationBased on the assessment, your doctor will advise whether you are medically fit to work, require short-term rest, or need a longer period of recovery.
Medical Certificate — Where Clinically AppropriateIf the assessment supports certified sick leave, your doctor will issue an official medical certificate accepted by employers and educational institutions across Ireland. The duration of certified leave will reflect the clinical findings.
Referral or Follow-Up Where NeededIf your condition requires further investigation, specialist input, or in-person evaluation, your doctor will advise you clearly and coordinate next steps.
Important Information Before You Book
- The decision to issue a medical certificate rests entirely with the consulting doctor and cannot be guaranteed in advance
- Certificates may cover short-term or extended leave depending on clinical assessment
- Backdated sick notes are not routinely issued due to the absence of direct clinical assessment at the time of illness
- This service does not provide Illness Benefit Certificates for the Department of Social Protection — please attend an in-person GP for this purpose
- If your condition is deteriorating or you are concerned about a serious underlying illness, your doctor will advise on appropriate escalation
