Men's Health Consultation

Men's health issues — erectile dysfunction, low testosterone, reduced libido, and sexual performance — are among the most common, and most underreported, medical concerns among men in Portugal. Most men who experience these symptoms never talk to a doctor about them. They should. In most cases, these are medical conditions with medical causes — and medical solutions. Our doctors, registered with the Portuguese Medical Association, offer confidential men's health assessments by secure video call. No waiting room, no discomfort of in-person appointments, no judgement. Just a complete clinical assessment and a clear plan.

We also have Medicare for this service.

This is a complete men's health consultation — not a prescription service. Our doctors carry out a full clinical assessment to identify the medical, hormonal, psychological, or lifestyle factors underlying your symptoms, and advise on the most appropriate management based on the clinical findings.

This service is for men's health issues. Women's health issues, including menopause, hormonal conditions, and contraception, are assessed through our Women's Health Consultation.

What Your Consultation Includes

Complete Clinical Assessment. Your doctor carries out a detailed review of your clinical history, current symptoms, medication, cardiovascular risk factors, hormonal indicators, psychological factors, and lifestyle influences — building a complete picture of what's causing your symptoms.

Identifying Underlying Causes. Men's health symptoms rarely exist in isolation. Erectile dysfunction, for example, is often an early marker of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, or testosterone deficiency. Your doctor assesses the complete clinical picture, not just the presenting complaint.

Clinical Management Plan. Based on the assessment, your doctor advises on the appropriate next steps — which may include lifestyle and metabolic optimisation, referral for blood tests or hormonal assessment, specialist referral when indicated, or clinical recommendations at the doctor's professional discretion.

Ongoing Care Pathway. When your condition requires structured long-term management, your doctor advises on the most suitable care pathway — including whether a Family and General Medicine Consultation would better serve your long-term needs.

Why Men Don't Seek Help — And Why They Should

Research consistently shows that men seek medical help less than women, particularly for issues related to sexual health or perceptions of masculinity. The consequences of this are serious: erectile dysfunction is a known early warning sign of cardiovascular disease. Low testosterone affects mood, cognition, bone density, and metabolic health. Untreated hormonal imbalance has long-term systemic consequences.

These are not lifestyle inconveniences. They are medical conditions. And they are treatable.

A confidential video-call consultation removes the barriers that stop most men from seeking assessment — no waiting room, no discomfort of an in-person appointment, no need to explain the situation to a receptionist. Just a doctor, a secure call, and a clinical conversation.

Why Choose Our Care

Completely confidential. Your consultation is carried out by encrypted video call. No one in your home, workplace, or social circle needs to know you booked an appointment. Your health data is protected under strict data protection standards.

Doctors registered with the Portuguese Medical Association. All assessments are carried out by doctors registered with the Portuguese Medical Association, at standard primary-care clinical level.

Same-day appointments. Available the same day — because the barrier to booking should be as low as possible for a topic most men put off for months.

Clinical depth, not a quick fix. We assess the underlying cause, not just the symptom. A complete clinical assessment is the only responsible way to manage men's health issues — and this is what our doctors are trained to do.

Multilingual. Consultations available in Portuguese, English, Spanish, Czech, and Romanian — particularly relevant for the international and expat male population in Portugal.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a prescription service?

No. This is a clinical assessment service. Our doctors carry out a complete medical assessment and advise on appropriate management based on the findings. Any clinical recommendations are made at the doctor's professional discretion, after a complete assessment.

Is erectile dysfunction always a physical condition?

Not always — but often it is. ED is associated with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, testosterone deficiency, and medication side effects, among other causes. A proper clinical assessment is the only way to determine the underlying cause and the appropriate management pathway.

Will my consultation be completely confidential?

Yes. Your consultation is carried out by encrypted video call and your medical records are protected under Portuguese and European data protection law. No information is shared without your explicit consent.

What if my condition requires specialist care?

If the assessment indicates that specialist support is needed — urology, endocrinology, or cardiology — your doctor informs you clearly and coordinates the referral to the appropriate service.

Can I use this service if I do not live in Portugal permanently?

Yes. We serve expats, international residents, students, and travellers in Portugal. You do not need to be registered with a health centre to access our service.

From what age is this service suitable?

Men's health issues can arise at any adult age. Erectile dysfunction, for example, affects men from their twenties onwards — often with psychological or lifestyle causes at that stage of life. Our service is suitable for adult men of all ages.

Medical disclaimer. All services are provided at Clínica Geral level in accordance with Portuguese healthcare regulations. Prescriptions, referrals, and medical certificates may be issued only when clinically appropriate and at the doctor's discretion. Our doctors do not routinely prescribe controlled substances through online consultations. Backdated medical certificates are not routinely issued due to the lack of a direct clinical assessment at the time of illness. These versions are cleaner, country-specific, and avoid mentioning the other jurisdiction, making them suitable for dedicated Ireland and Portugal service pages.
