Dr. Mónica Fabiana Cornejo Román is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with extensive clinical practice in hospital and outpatient mental health services across Spain and Argentina. She holds a medical degree from the National University of Tucumán and completed her full psychiatric specialty training at Hospital Borda, supported by Universidad Maimónides. Her medical qualification is officially recognized in Spain.

She has recently completed complementary specialist training at Hospital del Mar – Parc de Salut Mar (Barcelona) as part of the homologation process of her psychiatric specialty in Spain, with rotations in acute and subacute psychiatry, psychiatric emergencies, inpatient care, interconsultation, complex psychopharmacology, and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Dr. Cornejo has served as a consultant psychiatrist in several leading institutions in Barcelona, including Fundación Vidal y Barraquer, Hospital Universitari Sagrat Cor, Badalona Mental Health Center (BSA), and Hospital Mare de Déu de la Mercè, providing outpatient care, liaison psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, suicide risk management, inpatient treatment, and referrals to specialized programs such as treatment-resistant depression, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorders.

Previously, she practiced for over six years in Argentina with OSDE, Hospital Santojanni, Medicus S.A., and Centro Larrea de Salud Mental, including high-volume emergency psychiatry shifts and complex inpatient care. Her clinical expertise covers advanced psychopharmacology, mood and anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, addictions, liaison psychiatry, suicide risk management, chronic pain, and medico-legal reporting.

She holds postgraduate qualifications including a Master’s Degree in Clinical Neuropsychopharmacology, a University Specialization in Legal Medicine, and a specialization in Pain Assessment and Treatment. She has participated in clinical research projects in collaboration with CIBERSAM – Hospital Sant Pau, and has published in the field of bioethics and psychiatry.

Dr. Cornejo is a Full Member of the American Psychiatric Association and is fluent in Spanish with strong professional reading proficiency in English. She is recognized for her structured clinical reasoning, compassionate patient-centered approach, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration.
